About The ContainersAs you probably know, shipping containers vary in shape, size and quality. The most common styles we see people asking for are either 20' or 40' containers because these are most widely available and they are easiest to ship around the state.
We know some people have high standards and prefer a brand new storage container and we absolutely have access to those. And there's the other side where people just need a quick storage tailer so a used shipping container works for them too. |
Quality Options For The Containers
Technically, there's no true standard rating system across the country that determines the quality of a shipping container. There's some common practices and acceptable metrics most companies use to advertise and leverage for warranties. Here's what we like to use with our customers:
New Containers (One Trip)
These are the storage containers that are as close to new as you can possibly get. Containers are usually made overseas and shipped to the US on large cargo ships. So purchasing a new shipping container in Wisconsin means it's going to have some travel miles on it, but you will be the first person who uses the container beyond its first cargo shipment from overseas.
Cargo Worthy (CW)
These are shipping containers are well used but still maintain the level of international standards for the shipping industries. These containers have taken some lumps but are still extremely usable and look good too.

Wind & Watertight (B Grade)
B Grade shipping containers are usually a little older and have had quite a few trips around the world. They've made their mark in the shipping industry but are more than capable. They likely have some bigger dents and rust forming but still get inspected and achieve the WWT stamp of approval.
As Is Condition (C Grade)
We do not recommend this type of shipping container for our customers. It comes with no warranties of any kind. It is simply as box of metal that likely has holes and rust beyond normal wear and tear. It is unlikely for these types of containers to keep out water or animals which is the biggest reason we don't recommend them.
